To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the devastating tornado that struck on March 23, 1913, Douglas County Historical Society and Nebraska Jewish Historical Society have collaborated to publish Ribbon of Destruction – The 1913 Douglas County Tornado on Easter Sunday and the Jewish Holiday of Purim.  Edited by DCHS Member and Past-President, Dennis Mihelich, this photographic account contains more than 50 images from the Douglas County Historical Society Library Archives, including maps, newspaper clippings and personal letters recounting the day’s terrible events.
To show our appreciation for our members and their continued support, this book is offered as a complimentary gift for members only!  Stop by the General Crook House Museum, or any of Douglas County Historical Society’s upcoming events to get your copy!  Our latest exhibit, Meet Me Under The Clock: The Culture of Brandeis is now open. It is the perfect time to visit the museum!

Interested in becoming a member of DCHS and receive your copy of the book?  Click here to join online today!  For questions or additional information, call us at 402-455-9990.
